[...] Huw reported a while back that Zoho were not planning to release their own ‘Zoho Drive’ application: Raju confirms in the comments [of this post] that Drive will not now be released. I have mixed feelings on this. In some ways it helps them maintain the focus, and maybe Zoho/Adventnet isn’t the right company to do it. However, I liked the premise of it, and it is radically different from what the storage companies are interested in at the present. [...]

Thanks for the nice post, Huw!

>> when IE6 crashed and the lack of an autosave in the host-your-own version of Wordpress meant that I lost it

Hmm, you could have used Zoho Writer for compiling your blog post (and post it to your blog here). We do an auto-save every 45 seconds and the crash wouldn't have meant you losing all your info.

Huw:

We dont plan to release Zoho Drive. There is a slight change in direction here. However, we will continue to provide storage for our users using Zoho apps. We dont want to be in the business of selling storage space. We want to be an application provider. However, we want to support other online storage vendors out there. Our API will help then on this front. Apart from just online storage vendors, any application vendor who has a requirement to open/edit documents can use our API.

Thanks for the great analysis.
