Windows Vista RC1 by Peter

I’ve managed to get my hands on Windows Vista Release Candidate 1 and I was going to do a little review of what’s changed, what’s better, what’s worse and what hasn’t changed.

I’m using VMware Server to install Vista without uprooting any other operating installations I have here. Unfortunately, I’m not able to get very far, because Vista RC1 for some reason doesn’t include the drivers for VMware’s default network card. Without a network card I essentially can’t install any software and browse the web, so I’m not going to get too far.

It’s also painfully slow under VMware (on a 3.0 GHz Pentium 4 single core, single processor host) even when Vista is given 512 MB of RAM.

Hopefully sometime soon I’ll have the opportunity to install it on a physical machine, so you should get some reviews then. For now, have some screenshots of Vista RC1 (with the new Windows Vista Basic theme).
