You might have noticed that Gizbuzz has been down for the past two hours. This has been because of the ‘Digg effect’ – my tutorial on how to setup a Wamp server reached the front page and so my little Ubuntu box has had to serve up just under 1500 pages (it would have been more if it hadn’t given up!), and the article got 929 diggs and counting.
The problem didn’t stem from bandwidth. I actually have quite a good broadband connection. The problem was with the MySQL database not being fast enough. Next time (if there is a next time), I will swap the dynamic site for a cache, and hopefully we won’t go down! Thanks for your support if you did digg the article, and all I can say is, at least it shows that I practice what I preach (self-hosting)!

Yeah, thanks for the article..nice!
