The Google acquisition machine is rolling once again, and this time Mashable reports that they have acquired JotSpot, a company offering enterprise wiki software and wiki/social services to businesses.
As Google did with Writely when they were acquired, sign-ups on JotSpot are now closed while Google sort out the transfer, but existing users can still sign in and use the site.
Reading JotSpot’s official FAQ on the deal brings up something quite interesting - they will no longer be charging customers for the service after the move over to Google.
We will no longer be billing customers for the use of the service. Although you will still have use of the product at your current pricing plan, we won’t charge you anymore when your current billing cycle expires.
So, interestingly, they appear to be moving over from a paid model to, presumably, an ad-supported model by Google, or just by using the idea of promoting other Google services and therefore getting more people using more Google stuff.
