According to TechCrunch, Google made a bit of a mistake recently. Their rumoured GDrive product, which appears to be an online storage service (à la Box.net) had a specification page accidentally posted on their Writely site.
A blogger found the GDrive specification page by appending index.html (the default home page for most websites) to writely.com and stumbled upon the specification page intended only for Google employee’s eyes. See a screenshot of the leaked page here.
According to that page, GDrive will be available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux and has the following features:
# Backup. If you lose your computer, grab a new one and reinstall Platypus. Your files will be on your new machine in minutes.
# Sync. Keep all your machines synchronized, even if they run different operating systems.
# VPN-less access. Not at a Google computer? View your files on the web at http://troutboard.com/p.
# Collaborate. Create shared spaces to which multiple Googlers can write.
# Disconnected access. On the plane? VPN broken? All your files are still accessible.
Interesting. I’m sure the bosses of the Googler who made this slip-up aren’t happy…
