Since Gizbuzz has got about 400 extra subscribers post-Digg (according to the latest Feedburner stats), presumably most of whom either have or are about to install a web server, I would have thought this was a very relevant post.
TechCrunch is reporting that Ilija Studen, a developer from Serbia has released an open source clone of the popular and highly thought of project management tool Basecamp. Basecamp, by Web 2.0 giant 37signals is designed to help you collaborate with a team of people, sharing files, calendars and doing much more. The downside is that it costs money, although there is a very basic free version available.
Studen’s project, called ActiveCollab, is a PHP/MySQL system which you install on your own web server. At the moment it is in an early alpha version. I haven’t had a chance to try it yet, but later today I will install it on my webserver, and open it up so that you can have a look at it without necessarily having to install it. Check back later for a review and demo, and in the mean time, click on the screenshot thumbnail to see the ‘project overview’ screen.
